With the score tied at 24 – 24 in the 3rd quarter, UTS mustered their will, putting together two late scoring drives to seal the victory 38 – 24. Week 5 – Women Gators Triumphant while D1, Colts Fall

Under sunny skies, the UTS Gridiron Club hosted its first true home games of the 2015 season at Neptune Park in Revesby.

The Gator Women opened the action in dominant fashion, demolishing the Newcastle Cobras 36 – 0 in a very physical contest that saw several players suffer severe injuries on both teams. The win moves the Gators to 2nd place with a 2 – 1 record.
The Colts Gators faced the Western Sydney Pirates in what was undoubtedly the game of the day. The Gators fought tooth and nail with the Pirates for the entire match, falling just short at the final whistle 6 – 8. It was a disappointing result after a fantastic fight by our boys and drops them to 3rd in the standings with a record of 1 – 1.
Division 1:
The Gator Men came out strong against the Western Sydney Pirates with a solid offensive drive to open the game but were unable to turn it into points. The Pirates, however fought back and following a string of injuries to several stand-out Gators, Western Sydney took control of the game, handing the Gators their first loss of the season, dropping to 3 – 1 but maintaining 4th place in the standings.

Women Gators drop a heart-breaker, Division One stays undefeated

In a closely fought match, the UTS Gators women suffered their first loss of the season to the UNSW Raiders, 6-2. Despite the outcome, the Gators fought hard til the end and never gave up. Their next game will see the Newcastle Cobras travel to our home field for this season – Neptune Park where the Gators look to get back to their winning ways.

Following the women, the Division One Gators faced the Central Coast Sharks in what was expected to be a gritty, smash-mouth game. Neither team disappointed with a close contest. In the mud and muck, UTS was able to get out to a quick lead but allowed the Sharks to get back into the game on 2 consecutive turnovers near the UTS goal-line. The Gators rallied back to put one more touchdown on the board near the end of the 3rd quarter which sealed the win as the 4th quarter went score-less, leaving the final score 22-12 and moving the Gators to 3rd place in the standings with a record of 3-0.

Come on out and support your UTS Gators at Neptune Park, Saturday October 10th, for a full day of action-packed games, with all three teams playing!
