At the 2005 NSWGFL League Presentation, UTS Gridiron was awarded the “Team of the Year” award. This is a great prize, and the club is very honored to receive the award. Congratulations to all club members for establishing a positive name for UTS. Here’s to a bright future!
Also receiving awards on the day was our very own wide receiver, Patrick Raveloson, who was given the Outstanding Achievements Award for his selection to 2005 World Games All Star Team (See Below). Former head coach, Paul Manera also received an award for for his work in turning around our state program and leading NSW to 2 national titles. Well done!

UTS Gridiron capped off their record-breaking season with a Semi-Final loss to the Sydney University Lions 21-29. The 2005 Division One team was the first team in the club’s 11-year history history to reach the playoffs. They were also the first team to reach a winning record of six wins and four losses. It has been a landmark year for UTS, and hopefully the first of many more to come. Congratulations!

Anyone watching the 2005 ARIA Awards on the tele would have spotted UTS Gridiron member and former head cheerleader, Andrea Gouveros, shining on the tele. When Australian Idol & Channel V host, James Mathison, approached our Rea on live national TV, she stated her name, and said she got into the ARIA’s by “winning tickets in a competition”. It was only 5 seconds of fame, but it’s more than most.

A big thanks goes to Marco Hermosura, Marco Soriano and Jay Florido for organising a BBQ at their place after training on the 31st July. We’re now on the lookout for any ideas or requests regarding social events for our team. Whether it’s a BBQ every month or a trip to the pub, let it all out at training, or the message forums in the My Team page.
