UTS Gridiron

UTS Gridiron Division One are halfway through their pre-season training schedule. The team is training well and are looking strong, but we still want you to join us! If you are intending to play this year, contact us. Trainings are every Saturday and Wednesday. Saturday trainings are at Wentworth Park, Ultimo, at 12:30pm. Arrive at 12:00pm for preparation and warm-ups. Wednesday trainings are at Arthur Walker Reserve, Concord, at 7:30pm. Arrive at 7:00pm for preparation and warm-ups. The 2004 NFL season is drawing near, and so is the UTS Gridiron Fantasy Football league. There are two vacancies for any interested players who want to join a professional FF league. It will require someone with commitment and frequent, easy access to the internet (for roster management). It’s also very fun! Please contact Simon Irrgang if interested.

Matt Steel is bringing official UTS Gridiron Training T-Shirts to this Wednesday night training session (28 July 2004). They are being sold for a special discount price of $15 each. Sizes available are: M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL.

A referee course is running this Saturday, 31 July, from 9am - 4pm. It will be held at UTS Broadway campus (room TBA). This year the course is FREE. It’s a fantastic opportunity for both rookies and veterans to get a better understanding of the game. It’s also a gateway to becoming an official game referee in the NSWGFL. UTS Gridiron Division One testing day featured plenty of fun competition. Players were tested on their speed, agility and leaping. There were many fun personal battles as players tried to out-do their rivals. Results will be posted soon. Liz took some photos on the day: <<photo>>

All Division One players must attend theory sessions held every Tuesday. Coaches will be covering information which is vital to your understanding of the 2004 season. Offense arrive at the at UTS Broadway campus, Harry Heath room, level 3 at 7:30pm. Defense arrive at the at UTS Broadway campus, Ashford Smith room, level 3 at 7:30pm. The rooms are next-door to each other and downstairs from the main entrance.

After the 7 July, all Wednesday night training sessions will no longer be held at Taplin Park, Drummoyne. The new venue will be Arthur Walker Reserve, Concord. Please check future updates for further information.
